GALA Piano Concert in Erbil – June 8

From the United States to Erbil The YES Academy is hosting a free admission concert featuring the American Voices Director, John Ferguson and young Kurdish talent such as pianist Hersh Anwer who are alumni of the YES Academy and USA scholarship programs.

The concert is taking place on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 7:00pm to 8:30pm at the SAAD Conference Center on Monday. This year, American Voices celebrates the founding of its sister NGO, YES Exchange in Erbil with a Gala Piano Concert, and we as Erbil Lifestyle encourage you to attend this unique event to enjoy it with your friends and family.

Since 2007, the YES Academy has been the only summer international performing arts education program for young people from all corners of the Kurdistan Region. The U.S. faculty is drawn from the United States’ most outstanding universities and cultural organizations such as The Julliard School, St Louis University and St. Thomas University. Courses offered include Guitar, Piano, String Orchestra, Chamber Music, Private Lessons and Composition. As well as jazz, hip-hop, ballet, break dancing, and children’s theater from previous years.

The YES Academy unites youth from all of the nation’s geographic regions, ethnic and confessional groups and gives them the opportunity to receive professional level training as well as to build bridges among themselves and among institutions. The YES Academy also provides an opportunity for capacity building in education in Iraq through teacher and curriculum development, practical skills, critical thinking, curriculum reform and donations of teaching materials and instruments.

The YES Academy is organized by American Voices, a U.S.-based NGO with over two decades of experience in international performing arts programming. American Voices is committed to providing capacity building performing arts programs that create opportunities to broaden youth horizons through cultural engagement.
