With the objective of showcasing a fine selection of cinematic works in the Kurdistan Region, the 2011 British Film Festival is being held in Erbil along with workshops set up by the National film and Television School (NFTS) to encourage Kurdish filmmakers to tell their own stories through the medium of cinema.
This three day event, sponsored in part by the British Council, will take place in selected venues across the Kurdistan capital including Saad’s Palace.
Check out the festival schedule (www.bffk.net) and make your way down there… it’s not every day that a selection of the world’s finest contemporary filmmakers come knocking at your door.
